I’ve been working in Marketing & Startups for 8 compelling years.

Season 1. How to become a leader at a 500 fortune company?

In June 2012, I was a fresh graduate from International Marketing that just got rejected from the P&G’s Panama Program. So, I did what most millennials in desperate situations would do:

 
 

I found Unilever Future Leaders, an accelerated leadership program. About 20,000 people applied. Only a few got in, 31 to be exact, and I was one of those golden kids.

At a high-performance program, you get higher KPIs and access to a mentor; mine taught me 3 lessons that stood up with me till this day:

  1. How to have an overachieving mindset.

  2. Always have a plan B, C, and D ready.

  3. Remove excuses from your lexicon.

Highlights of my time at UL include:

  • Achieving the product's historical distribution by creating the first cross-promotion with a competitor.

  • Growing national product sales by 11% by spotting an underserved city and creating a GTM strategy.

  • Raising a product launch incremental turnover by 40% by leveraging business insights.

Two things happened that prevented me from becoming one of those Future Leaders. #1 A company restructure #2 I got bitten by the entrepreneurship bug

Season 2. Fixing Mexican toilets at the click of a button

It all starts with an idea.

Ours was hiring services at the click of a button. From hiring a DJ to finding a plumber to fix your clogged toilet.

After interviewing +100 people, the data showed the market needs.

Monkier: A home maintenance platform that matched service providers with local demand.

I had a lot of fun leading a team of 7 extraordinary individuals to grow Monkier from an idea to:

  • Helping +1,278 happy customers repair their homes/offices.

  • Performing +3.4k services & generating $3.6M in revenue.

  • Creating a network of +80 hardworking service providers.

After two years of growth, we hit a plateau, made two pivots that didn't work, and decided to close down.

It was one of the most complex decisions I've ever made, but I will be forever grateful for the lessons and skills I developed.

Season 3. Launching scannable jewelry from $0 to $500k in 12 months

Mementum is my second startup; we launched a completely new jewelry type on the market.

Often described as “black-mirror meets a locket”.

We embedded a really, really tiny unique QR Code into every piece of jewelry. The code can be scanned using your phone camera, allowing you to view, edit, or upload memories.

I had a lot of fun launching and growing the brand from $0 to $500k in revenue within 12 months. Learning how to market Mementum's value proposition was a bold challenge.  

After a lot of blood, sweat, and testing later...

Discovered that experiential gift-giving videos resonated with our target audience (Gen Z). So, I developed a marketing strategy focused on organic product discoverability on TikTok & Instagram. 

Collaborated with +60 TikTok creators to produce gift-giving videos. Our campaigns achieved:

  • +74M organic video views (yup, organic).

  • 50k avg. website visits per month.

  • A startling avg. CAC of $5.

Season 4 is still in the making, I’m currently on a quest for my new adventure.
